Query to get count of distinct value in MySQL -

i have tried below query in mysql not working.

select count(*) (       select count distinct(radl_request_msisdn)       rbt_activation_details_log       radl_active ='a'       group radl_request_msisdn      ); 

select count(distinct column_whose_distinct_values_you_want_to_count)  rbt_activation_details_log  radl_active ='a'  group radl_request_msisdn

you're grouping , counting on same column, give 1 result.

edit:

then omit group clause

select count(distinct radl_request_msisdn)  rbt_activation_details_log  radl_active ='a'
